LONDON LINES POETRY MAP
At the weekend we finished an installation for the Southbank Centre and Jaybird Live Literature London Lines: a project featuring poetry from all of London’s 33
boroughs, exhibited as part of Southbank Centre’s four-month long Festival of
Neighbourhood which runs until 8 September.
Members of the public were invited to come to
Southbank Centre to write a memory, story, thought or idea about a
London borough that meant something to them on special cards created by ourselves. The written cards were then
used by the 22 poets as inspiration for their final poem, which was
written overnight on Saturday.
On Sunday all the cards and the final 33
poems were installed on The Clore Ballroom in a giant 3-D map of the
city and there were live readings of the poems by the poets who participated in the project. Members of the public can walk through and explore the installation until
midday Wednesday 24th July when the installation will be dismantled and the cards archived.
