LINE OF FLIGHT

A cut paper costume inspired by 'A Peepshow with Views of the Interior of a Dutch House' by Samuel van Hoogstraten, a Baroque optical box within the permanent collection of the National Gallery, London.

These photographs are from a recent shoot for 'Flight: Drawing Interpretations', a research project between London College of Fashion and National Gallery London. The performer is Li Lu, a Chinese virtuoso cellist, whose choreographed movements are derived from her actions and gestures when playing the cello. These images form part of a stop-motion animation that recomposes movement of the body and music.

Photographs by Daniel Caulfield-Srikland.
