Had a fascinating day working with choreographer Siri Dybwik and dance artist Maria Hannevold  for a dance performance 'Between the Folds'.
The costume design brief was to create a transformable, wearable costume that could shift through different transitions and forms in response to the dancers body. As the audience will be watching the piece from the ground floor level and balconies, the costume had to be detailed yet also be able to extend beyond the dancer's body to take on a bigger presence. The final costume also had to be easily transportable as hand luggage.
I was amazed by the dynamism Siri and Maria found within the costume and there were moments within the choreography when the dual movement of body and costume was reminiscent of a Loie Fuller dance.
